Quantum3D Announces Independence IDX 80 Image Generator

Novel Mid-range Simulation and Training Image Generator Targets Value-Conscious Markets Including Level-D Commercial Pilot Training and UAV Simulation

Orlando, Fla. (WATS Booth #133)  – Apr. 19, 2016 – Quantum3D, Inc., a leading provider of training and simulation solutions for government and commercial applications, today announced the newest addition to its successful Independence® IDX Image Generator (IG) family: the IDX 80. Employing a unique new compact all-in-one design, the IDX 80 is designed and optimized for simulation applications requiring anywhere from two to a maximum of eight separate display devices. Applications in this popular range include commercial airline pilot training simulators, which typically require three primary projector displays and one or two ancillary displays.

IG’s in this performance space are typically large devices, built up with multiple PC server cabinets stacked in tall equipment racks weighing hundreds of pounds and consuming several kilowatts. In stark contrast, the IDX 80 comes uniquely packaged in a single chassis not much larger than a common deskside tower PC. By integrating all componentry within a single chassis, Quantum3D has been able to dramatically simplify and reduce the overall cost of the design, while at the same time reducing power consumption and improving reliability.

While IDX 80 is small in terms of footprint and budget, it shares many key features with its larger sibling, the flagship IDX 8000 model. Like the 8000, the IDX 80 is powered by Intel’s latest 6-core Xeon CPUs and NVIDIA’s top of the line Quadro M-series GPUs, and is backed by Quantum3D’s industry-leading 3-year warranty and guaranteed service life of 10 years or more.

The IDX 80 includes MANTIS® – Quantum3D’s award-winning software for real-time visual simulation, as well as the GeoScapeSE® World-Wide Database.  Based on modern GPU shader programming and along with its vast array of plug-ins for special effects, MANTIS is well suited to exploit the new levels of hardware power within the IDX 80. When configured with the Global Airports feature available in MANTIS, IDX 80 is ready to fly pilots to over 27,000 airfields around the globe. The IDX 80 is ideal for a variety of applications including commercial FAA/EASA Level-D flight training, ground vehicle training, maritime training, and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) training to name just a few.

“By thinking outside the box, we were able to squeeze a fully capable multichannel IG into a single small package for the first time,” said Jan Bjernfalk, VP of Products, Quantum3D. “The IDX 80 will be a hit with customers who want the advanced features and performance of our IDX 8000, but the convenience of a small package and price.”

Quantum3D is exhibiting its products this week at the World Aviation Training Conference and Tradeshow (WATS 2016) in Orlando, Florida, USA. Independence IDX 80 is planned to be in production and available for delivery beginning in mid-summer 2016.
